This is how the famous Manfred Von Richthofen flew in World War I. The design of the three wings of the plane allowed great flexibility which was very important for the air battles of the First World War. Due to the crimson color of the plane, Richthofen was named "Red Devil" by the French of the First World War (this nickname was changed to "Red Baron" after the war).
